No hot rocks.
I told her before I put a post up here that the only way for it to be 100% determined is if she takes Lizzie to the vet, as I had to do with my leos, as anyone does with ailing pets. I agree with you totally, but I am only doing what I can personally to help her. They have already lost their first iguana due to NOT taking him to the vet (mites), so if they want to take care of this one, they HAVE to. I just spent a lot of $$$ on making my leopard gecko better, but it was worth it, I would never be able to live with myself if I could have prevented my pet's death.
Keep in mind I live 4 hours from her: as far as I can remember about the enclosure I feel they have way too much wood as the flooring for complete disinfection of that tank and it has no glass. Yes, I believe the lamp IS too close, it is inside the chicken wire (aaarrrggghhh) but she told me she cannot see Lizzie burning her underside, where the spot is, she would have to severely contort herself to burn herself there. I just told her that she should clean the area with Bentadine (a Reptile Rescue friend keeps a lot of iguanas and did not want to give complete advice... justly so. But cleaning the area is a good idea in the meantime and that was the only solid advice she wanted to give except get her to the vet) So, let us just hope she gets her to the vet, and that there is a good vet where she lives, I know there are wonderful vets here in my city that have reptile experience, I am not sure of Belleville, Ontario.
Thank you very much, I will try to post a message of what happened.
