I would like to say one thing about the heating arrangement. If it's a flood light/spot light they are using...I have tested a 150 watt flood light with a thermometer from a range of 10 to 12 inches away and got readings of 175+ degrees. This could easily cook an iguana. Although the iguana may not be able to get in contact with the light....it doesn't mean the light can't burn him/her. I would suggest never going over a 75 watt flood....and then only if you test the area closest to where the iguana can get to it. Mounted correctly(meaning NOT on top of a wire cage) inside the cage but where as the iguana is unable to reach it. A thermometer is a must!!! Multi readings should be done throughout the whole cage, making sure there is no areas over 100 degrees in the cage.
We use ceramic heaters for our iguanas but use both a ceramic and a flood light for our....hummm yuck (inside thing for Sue1) BD. Ceramic heaters are great, you never have to turn them off, where a flood light has to be turned off at night. We have most of ours hung from inside the cages about 12 to 14 inches away from their basking branches. The distance depends of the wattage of the ceramic heater too.....this goes back to taking readings of the area.
Hope these suggestions can help with your friends set up, if it's burns.
