You probably didn't clean out the bite well enough when the iguana bit you. Reptiles can carry some very harmful bacteria, such as Graham negative bacteria.
: Whenever a reptile bites you, you should have it looked at just in case. Even if it's a minor bite.

Next question, then... the bite was thoroughly cleaned with alcohol and then iced for a full half hour to get the swelling down. It was kept bandaged and treated with anti-bacterial ointment 2-3x daily until the cuts healed. Is that not enough for a bite? It only broke the skin for about 1/4" at best, and not even deep. more like a bad scratch.
The skin is no longer broken. The actual bite was healed over within a week. At worst, it is slightly red on occasion now. The 'cyst' or whatever it is is down inside the knuckle. This is what I am curious about... Granted, the little bugger got me right ON the knuckle, but still?
Oh, and getting 'checked out' every time I get bit isn't an option.. ;> HMO @ $10 per visit may not sound like much, but I'd have been two dozen times this past month alone! (Got a new corn snake that didn't take to being transferred to his new home very well...)
