Well, we took him to town and he totally freaked, but not in the way I expected. Instead of having to control a desperate escapee, he clamped down on my forearm as soon as we all got in the pickup. When we got to Doc's he had to be pried off. Never did get him all the way off. After Doc and my daughter got his front end up and the scar was visable, I called a halt to it. No point in stressing the animal more than necessary.
This was really out-of-his-new-charecter behavior. He actually tried to bite everyone within range, and he has never been a biter. I had to cover his head with my other hand to keep Doc out of his jaws. And his threat display was only a little short of spectacular. But he would NOT leave my now pretty mangled forearm - even with trimmed claws!
Is this normal behavior? Will an Iguana actually make a person part of it's territory and feel more secure with that person?
Another question: He likes his limb, but won't eat from his bowl on the shelf. He'll snack but for a real meal he insists on being put back in his old tank with the grocerys. I'm trying to wean him away from this, but it's slow going. Would appreciate any suggestions.
Gotta go, now. Seem to have mislaid by bourban.
