My iguana had the exact same thing. They looked like black patches on the legs, arms and some on her back. I took her to the vet. The vet prescribed antibiotics for her due to the fact that. He said that the mites had inbedded themselves under her skin and which may be causing an infection. He recommended Betadine baths along with the antibiotics. He scrapped away one of the black areas and it was pretty inflamed. The treatment seemed to work very well. She was moved to a new enclosure, given baths and the medicine. The areas are now like scar tissue. Have turned greyish white. Front legs have regained total green color. She looks like a new girl. If the mites get this bad, I think they really need to be looked at by a professional. Otherwise there are some home remedies for mites.
