Welcome to the forum........I'd like to respond to your quewstions without sounding judgemental, or "know-it-all-ish", even though sometimes my powers of diplomacy are not in tact! If anything I say sounds that way, I am sorry..it's not meant that way! I am very glad to see people asking questions about them, instead of assuming like I did when I first got my pets!
The first thing I can say, is that you really need to stop giving it eggs....not even as a treat once in a while. An iguana should get absolutely ZERO animal protien (meat products). Giving it eggs could drastically shorten the lifespan of the ig, and especially since you probably don't really know what it was fed before you.
Is the ig getting any UVB lighting? If he likes your closet so much, perhaps you should get a fixture and mount it in your closet for it. If it doesn't get at least 12 hours a day of artificial sunlight from a good UVB bulb like "VitaLite" or "reptiSun" or "iguana light", than it needs at least 8 hours per month of direct sunlight, that is not filtered by windows or screens.
Even with tamer igs, sometimes they'll puff up at you and try to look tough, but usually it is only an act...........usually! You already know that being careful is very important when approaching a crabby ig! Being bitten by one of these guys is no joke!
Having arms that look like several failed suicide attempts is a tell tale sign of an iguana owner. If you don't have scratches on your arms, you probably don't hold your ig enough. You should really trim those nails down, though. At least once weekly. In the wild, iguanas nails get ground down from the various types of things that they climb on, but in captivity, their nails can get much longer.........because our homes are much easier on their nails. Sometimes in captivity, a nail can get caught on something like carpet, or clothing, or anything like that, and it can break the igs finger, or maybe even rip the nail out! PAIN for the ig! Even if the ig has been traumatised in the past, the best thing you can do for it, is to get it used to the way things have to be done. In time, they learn that what a loving parent does is the right thing, just like human kids. If it's only about two feet in length snout to tail, then it's not that old, and has plenty of time to learn who the boss is! But please stop giving it eggs! :)
