How smart are iguanas?

I just adopted Ziggy 8 days ago and he is 7 years old. When I handle him I see he is watching me but I get a sense that he is smarter than I give him credit for. Does anyone know how smart they really are? Somewhere I read that they can be "potty trained"? If true, that is pretty sophisticated.

Anyway, Ziggy is doing great and my son loves to play with him. I am glad we got him as an addition to our home.
