HOW TO GET AN AGGRESSIVE MALE VEILED OUT?

my male veiled is about 2 years old and has not beed handeled in nearly 1 year! i know i should have continued to handle him throughout, but after he bit me the first time i have been worried about getting bit again! now i think it is time to get him out, and i need a good way to do it! If i put my haand directly in, he backs away and hisses!!! any suggestions on how to get him out?

i was also wondering if it is ok to get branches from a forest, wash the thouroughly, and put them in my chams enclosure? let me know
