Lance, good followup. The difficulty of road hunting any road is that the animals tend to sometime be on the shoulder or just off the shoulder in the gravel/grass. The benefit of walking the cuts is that you are 2 feet away from it. You can make out every detail. In the past I have collected mine on the road, but until a few years ago I did not put much effort into walking. Also please be courteous to any law enforcement while in west Texas. Border Patrol is usually very friendly. I don't know about everyone else but I would like to keep a positive relationship with the Law in the area.
Remember walking the cuts is the legal way to collect.
Never road hunt, just "travel" from one collecting place to another...If you see something along the way :)
Take Care,
Steven Owens
