I think I'm decent at getting hatchlings going, but I still wish
someone would tell me the trick to get the stubborn ones started.
One factor to consider is this. Some bloodlines are more finicky
than others. I have one clutch of 10, that have all fed. Compared to this I have two clutches out of one male, totaling
16 babies and only four of them have fed. And that's after a
lot of effort. This won't help you with your current problem,
but I believe that good feeding response of hatchlings is
something that can be selectively bred for. A couple of my main
tricks are persistence and lots of flavors of lizards. Some will
ignore cophosaurus, but jump on sceloporus. Other individuals
might have the opposite preference. Keep trying once a week or
so and don't resort to force feeding until you have to. Good
luck!
