small live urosaurus. I have yet to
see a baby alterna refuse this as a
food source.
It has been my experience that even
the most reluctant alterna will feed
(voraciously) with these perfectly
sized lizards.
The motion of the lizard running by
the hatchling in it's cage seems to
trigger the response, and combined
with the smell it's as safe a bet as
there is.
I know a lot of you prefer not feed live
lizards for any number of reasons (impractical,
parasites, etc.) but we are talking a last resort
here.
Another note, it is critical to initiate a feeding
response as soon as possible when you are talking
about a 10 -12 gram hatchling.
Also once feeding in this manner switching to scented
pinks is a breeze.
May not work for everyone, but it always worked for me.
