I completely agree with you on the ability to breed for feeding response. About ten years ago Dave Barker of VPI pythons and I got to talking about exactly that with childrens pythons which are normal hard feeders also. He was working with three separate lines two of which fed on pinks easily and the other took a lot of work. I purchased some hatchlings and after producing offspring several years later it was amazing the difference. Since that lesson we have been selectively breeding our mexicana groups, alterna and coastal type corns ( blood reds, rosy rats etc ) for this trait and last year with a production of 157 offspring in those animals we had 138 take pinks as first meals with no scenting, washing etc. We placed them into a deli cup with a pink and they did the rest. Neat deal.
