Here's the thing, Jeff. Plain and simple. I would not be so quick to criticize Bert Langerwerf's husbandry practices. He has studied tegus in Argentina. He has been breeding tegus for many, many years; he's bred thousands and thousands of them. And he's learned a lot over those years. I also believe he used to run a zoo. His experience with reptiles goes way back.

Regarding expecting more from someone, I would encourage you to look in the mirror before issuing such a statement. Bert can draw from his own experience. And if he says tegus eat picnic scraps, I'll believe him. If he wants to feed his stock a wide variety of foods, I'll bow to his judgement. If he thinks it's OK to feed them occasional table scraps (or even an angel food cake!), he must know what he's doing. OTOH, your experience will never catch up to Bert Langerwerf's, and if you criticize something he's doing you have to expect replies like mine. Now and in the future. (Unrelated example: If you've completed Mel Bay's standard guitar method #3, great. Keep it up. But you really shouldn't criticize Clapton's licks.)

You have no argument. But perhaps you can continue with this one.

Now I'm just musing here, but if you've had problems with your tegus in the past, I wonder who you contacted?
