OK, now I see. I have been going about this all wrong. Because There are "stories" of tegus eating picnic scraps I guess I should take out my hide boxes and replace them with picnic benches. I guess I will start feeding fried chicken instead of rats. ;o)

Tell me, have you done research on these "park" dwellers? Are the clutches average? Body weight? Adult size? Are they healthy, or just alive?
You can base your husbandry on tegus in a park, I will stick with what I have seen in my cages.

PS- read what the forestry service had found in it's studies about bears. There are many studies about bears near campsites vs those in the "wild". Campsite (picnic) bears are very unhealthy, wonder why?
