: Hi Jeff.
Bert's name came in when you mentioned the table scraps.
I do not breed reptiles. Never have, and perhaps never will. I make no apologies for not breeding them. I have nothing to sell here and cannot answer breeding-related questions from my own experience.
But, I have had quite a few herps over a good number of years, with good results. So I try to help folks with husbandry questions. In this area, I've done my homework and have learned by doing.
Back to Bert, I have never purchased a tegu from him, but I did have one of his animals that I got from a friend. This was in days before the tegu forum. I do respect Bert and his opinions. He has always taken the time to correspond with me and answer my questions. I hope to visit him some day. Can't say that I worship him, though ... I save that for God.
I also will never have first-hand experience with feeding unthawed frozen food to reptiles, because I won't do it.
As for your tegus, I say congratulations. I think it's great that you have the time and room to breed them. And best of luck in the future. Please let everybody know if you ever have Argentine B&Ws that do not slow down or hibernate. I think that an Arg that you could interact with all year long would be an ideal pet. Mine went down for 6 months, indoors, even though the temps were warm.
Bill
