Hi
My porphyracea like it cool. Cooler than most even mandarins are eating at higher temperatures, so I wasn`t surpriced that when the summer came and the temperature began to rise both porphyracea stopped eating and burried them down in moist sphagnum. The temperature continued to rise and even I offered small food items every 5 day they (and most of the other ratsnakes) refused to eat. Yesterday the temperature hit the roof and the coolest place in my house was 28*C I also placed some fuzzy mice in the boxes and both ate emidiately 4 of them each. I also tried feeding the mandarins and they ate as well.
WHY??? The newer eat here when it is summer,so I am a bit surpriced. I wonder if that is a one time experience or they will keep on eating. If they do they should be in adult size in the fall.
Best wishes
Søe
