: Hi
: My porphyracea like it cool. Cooler than most even mandarins are eating at higher temperatures, so I wasn`t surpriced that when the summer came and the temperature began to rise both porphyracea stopped eating and burried them down in moist sphagnum. The temperature continued to rise and even I offered small food items every 5 day they (and most of the other ratsnakes) refused to eat. Yesterday the temperature hit the roof and the coolest place in my house was 28*C I also placed some fuzzy mice in the boxes and both ate emidiately 4 of them each. I also tried feeding the mandarins and they ate as well.
: WHY??? The newer eat here when it is summer,so I am a bit surpriced. I wonder if that is a one time experience or they will keep on eating. If they do they should be in adult size in the fall.
: Best wishes

Hi Soe,
My E.p.coxi are eating great this year, last year the male was a little stubborn. I have had them now for 15 months and the female has gone from 12" up to 34" with a three month cool down. My air conditioner took a dump last week and the temps have risen up to 84 degrees, but the coxi and the lone mandarin have continued to eat strongly. They do spend most of the time in the spagnum dish though.
