How do I tell a texas rat from a black rat?

A local pet store has a snake they say it is a corn snake cross.It looks to me to be either a black rat or a texas rat.It is very aggressive which leads me to think wild caught black rat.Which would be illegal for them to sell in this state.Hence the cornx story(not a very reputable store).
