I've used Black Knight as a preventative measure so far. I always use Black Knight with new animals to prevent mites from entering my collection and have had no problems as of now with either snakes or mites(or any external parasite for that matter).
Might I add that you are not supposed to use too much black knight? Perhaps this was the case? I'm not saying you did anything wrong. Any chemical products have dangers. Black Knight to me, seems to be the least of them in terms of snake deaths. I have seen more snakes die of Provent- A-Mite than Black Knight. I have seen only 1 death that "appeared" to be connected to the Black Knight stuff. And that was an extremely small baby corn snake. VPI also seems to be successful with Black Knight and so does Pro Exotics. I know many keepers who will swear by the stuff. Perhaps your Aru had a weird allergic reaction or something...I don't know. But to each our own. Do what works for YOU and I will do what works for me.
