Eye color in snakes is caused by eumelanin. In red eye'd snakes what your seeing is the blood vessels in the eye, they actually have no eye color, they are aeumelanistic. The so-called Ruby eye albinos have melanin in their eyes so I would say they are not aeumelanistic. As for hypo, since eumelanin varies in color from dark brown to black, a animal displaying hypo could vary from light brown to gray. This is probably over simplifying this whole debate but I'm a simple kind of guy. IMHO
