I think Occam's Razor submits that if there are two explanations for something, the simpler one is more likely the right one. So here's a cheer for simple kinds of guys.

It seems to me your observation is supportive of the idea that red-eyed snakes would be "albinos" (gosh, i wish we could all say amelanistic instead) -- particularly if it's a morph lacking BOTH kinds of melanin--and hypos would logically have some eye pigment, i.e. be "ruby eyed", for example.

Am I reading too much into it?
