No your not reading to much into it. The ruby eye snakes are obviously not aeumelanistic or albino or what ever you choose to call them. Since eye color is caused by eumelanin and the ruby eye have eye color they cannot be aeumelanistic. I would say they are an extreme example of hypoeumelanism. IMHO
