We hear a lot of lip service about how bad sand is but nobody really seems to have had any problems with it so far.
My vet comes to our herp club a couple times a year with his slide shows and he's never had any leos die of sand that I know of. Most of his leo necropsies show impaction of Reptile bark, walnut shells and twigs because they are not digestible.
I have had a female breeder die from vermiculite impaction and I've heard of one person that had a leo get impacted from that real fine ReptiSand because it clumps together. PlaySand and CalciSand do not do.
It's a disservice to everyone that ever asks about it to just keep passing on the same rhetoric. One guy even posted that his vet recommended sand. Mine does, too.
Anyone else actually know what they're talking about?
