I have about 3 inches of cypress mulch on the bottom for easy clean up and to give some room for digging and hiding, seems to love the deep substrate. So far it works awesome, it is hard for her to swallow it with dinner and always gives of an nice, rich earthy smell. Her fecal matter is also very easy to clean in it. The mulch absorbs most of it and I just scoop out that whole area. No dreaded Indigo smells I was warned about. Living in Canada I have added a light (50 watt) for some heat in the morning after them chilly nights. The pet Shoppe where I bought her says I did not need any light. The rock and the logs in her tank were all sterilized before I put them in since I got them all from outside and are easy to clean. I added a Prayer Plant for aesthetics and some fresh air for her. Any thoughts or comments from the experts out there?
