you snake DEFINATLY needs that warm spot. Try to take what your pet store has to say with a grain of salt and look to those experienced in keeping the species for your real advice. Make sure this young Dry has a nice spot at least in the low 80's to bask in throughout the winter.
You are correct one of the reasons people always say they like these guys is their awareness / alertness.
as for the smell not being as bad as you expected, well...sorry to say but...
young cribo=small poop= small smell.
give it a year or so and you'll know what we mean.
