“raise the temp. to 85 degrees”
is a pretty standard vet response to treat snakes with infections.
I don’t think a constant 85 is going to be good at all for an indigo.
Maybe warm him a little, but that constant 85 is going to make him a miserable, nose-rubbing, potentially puking indigo.
80 I can live with, but still prefer a gradient. Let him CHOOSE to bask in 85-90 degrees. Don’t force him to .
