Well Fred,
This girl wasn't on a feeding response, she just doesn't like me.
I've been dodging her strikes ever since I got her, and she finally caught me on a slow day I guess!
It's all worth it, she'll give me some babies one day. It may be a couple years before she's acclimated enough to breed and produce, but it'll be worth it. I may then be able to raise up some little gems that aren't so spiteful !
I can't tell you how many times I've had close calls with my easterns and their feeding response though. My cages are stacked, and I (smartly) have my eastern female that has the strongest feeding response of any on the very top cage. I have to stand on a chair to get in that cage.
She often comes face-lunging when I open the cage door. More than once she has sent me diving off the chair and laying on the floor to avoid a direct hit to the face.
...keeps my reflexes sharp !!!
