: Well Fred,
: This girl wasn't on a feeding response, she just doesn't like me.
: I've been dodging her strikes ever since I got her, and she finally caught me on a slow day I guess!
: It's all worth it, she'll give me some babies one day. It may be a couple years before she's acclimated enough to breed and produce, but it'll be worth it. I may then be able to raise up some little gems that aren't so spiteful !
: I can't tell you how many times I've had close calls with my easterns and their feeding response though. My cages are stacked, and I (smartly) have my eastern female that has the strongest feeding response of any on the very top cage. I have to stand on a chair to get in that cage.
: She often comes face-lunging when I open the cage door. More than once she has sent me diving off the chair and laying on the floor to avoid a direct hit to the face.
: ...keeps my reflexes sharp !!!
dean, although my adult unicolors aren't shy or nervous anymore, they are NOTHING compared to their offspring's disposition. the babies are just plain friendly! i only have one left here [sold] and this little male is nothing short of endearing. when i clean his box, i simply put him down on the table and he just calmly goes about and inspects everything never bolting or becoming uneasy at all. in fact, quite the opposite! he readily gets on when i put my hand down to return him. so have heart! your baby yt's will more than likely be much better behaved than their momma. as a note of comparison, my larger yt [5'] that just came in, is fairly nervous but not as mean as your girl sounds. she used to try to get me but has since ceased and desisted w/ the bad acting. knock on wood. lol.
