Mike:
My thought is that although they are smart, (for a snake!)they not THAT smart. I could be wrong. It sure wouldn't hurt to try.
What does work (to tame feeding response biting) is to actually remove them from their enclousure to feed them. I USED to feed all my indigos outside of their cages in plastic containers.
I've done the same thing with pythons in the past. It doesn't take long for them to figure out that when the cage door opens, food is NOT coming.
Then they get all excited when you put them in the plastic container...but at least you don't have a snake rushing at you with it's mouth open every time the cage door opens.
It's good too if you use substrate other than paper in the cage...so it doesn't get swallowed.
As my collection grew, it just took too much time and I went back to cage feeding.
Good luck with George...glad to hear he's doing well !
