and the animals were sold to me as flawless.
When I received them I was extremely upset, but I thought it was possibly my fault for being too demanding and choosy, but after listening to my friends and your rant I realize that it just shouldn't have happened. They should have been as advertised.
There are several problems with the situation.
First, it is hard to return snakes that you have had as much emotional investment in as out of state easterns: the permit application process, the wait for the permit, and the month or so of preparation for their arrival. The individual has offerred to buy them back and I must add is a guy I liked through email and phone conversations.
My relationship is also the second part of the problem. The individual I bought them from seemed like an awesome guy and has an excellent reputation and I had formed what I thought was a friendship with him over the long permit process. I feel guilty about the situation even though as my friends say and you say, i shouldn't have been sold kinked snakes. He says he never noticed the kinks on the snakes and that another individual who looked at them did not either, but when my friend who owns NapaValleySnakes.com and I opened up the shipped package, it was the first thing we noticed. Others, including my friends at the East Bay Vivarium, tell me that I am naive for thinking there is a possiblity that he was unaware of the kinks and that it is not possible for a breeder to be oblivious to that sort of thing.
I have been stressed out by the whole situation and just wish it had never happened.
What do you think?
