: and the animals were sold to me as flawless.
: When I received them I was extremely upset, but I thought it was possibly my fault for being too demanding and choosy, but after listening to my friends and your rant I realize that it just shouldn't have happened. They should have been as advertised.
: There are several problems with the situation.
: First, it is hard to return snakes that you have had as much emotional investment in as out of state easterns: the permit application process, the wait for the permit, and the month or so of preparation for their arrival. The individual has offerred to buy them back and I must add is a guy I liked through email and phone conversations.
: My relationship is also the second part of the problem. The individual I bought them from seemed like an awesome guy and has an excellent reputation and I had formed what I thought was a friendship with him over the long permit process. I feel guilty about the situation even though as my friends say and you say, i shouldn't have been sold kinked snakes. He says he never noticed the kinks on the snakes and that another individual who looked at them did not either, but when my friend who owns NapaValleySnakes.com and I opened up the shipped package, it was the first thing we noticed. Others, including my friends at the East Bay Vivarium, tell me that I am naive for thinking there is a possiblity that he was unaware of the kinks and that it is not possible for a breeder to be oblivious to that sort of thing.
: I have been stressed out by the whole situation and just wish it had never happened.
: What do you think?
Josh,
Lets look at this problem, for a second:
You claim to have been sold Eastern Indigos that were kinked upon arival at your place of business.
Now, lets look for a solution:
If the seller is willing to refund your money, in full, or to send you another pair of Easterns without kinks to replace the pair you have, than these are both viable solutions. I would choose either one.
Personally,I would NOT use the excuse of haveing an "emotional" investment to these snakes as an
excuse not to return them if the offer that offer is being made to you. If you do, than you truly can never complain to anyone about that individual, because they tried to make it right and you did not want to .
This industry/ is very funny, people constantly undermine each other in the attempt to get either A) The same Dollar's $
or
B) Some form of short lived fame(Look at me, I am famous, everyone notice me) (*sic*)
People make mistakes, people do wrong, people constantly sin. The measure of our greatness is how much we can forgive others that have wronged us. I myself have a LONG way to go in this department, I tend to be opinionated and hold grudges. Not a very good choice..I am still a work in progress:)
The Drymarchon forum is one place that has been BLESSED not to have the kind of anquish that many other forums have endured and been subject to.
Maybe because they are not as popular(Thank God)
Josh, my advice is straighten this out with the breeder, forgive them for what you believe to have transpired, and go get yourself a pair of Easterns! And raise them, and breed them!
After all...they ARE the best snakes on this earth:) And no matter what happens...we CANT mess up that.
Sincerely,
Fred Albury
