Hi, guys! Thanks for taking time to read this. I have an adult Yellowtail that hasn't quite adjusted to captivity yet. He keeps striking at the plexiglass cage front. I've tried covering the front with cloth or something, but it tends to hold too much heat during the day. At any rate--he's knocked a chunk of tissue about the size and shape of a (small) pencil eraser off of his snout. I've rinsed the wound and am keeping an eye on it, but need advice about whether to use an antibiotic, etc.
If so, what works best in your experience? Thanks for your replies. (PS: This is the same snake I've been struggling with, trying to get him to eat. Finally, he shed last night, so I'm hoping he'll be more receptive to chicks, liver, fish, or something besides my hand, which he occasionally likes to take a nip at!)
