Dave, I am not quite sure what your point is here. I simply gave advice based on lots of experience using Silvadene in treating some pretty horendous cuts/lacerations/etc. If it isn't as good as other "substances" so what, the stuff still works great. If I misunderstood you, then I apologize.
: as i mentioned in my post below about a more benign and natural treatment...
: the active ingredient in silvaden (which is a great product in itself), is silver.
: silver is the most powerful anti microbrial substance known (that is safe).
: as effective as silvaden is in treating cuts, burns, infections of the skin, etc, it doesnt hold a candle to properly made colloidal silver.
: sorry for the preaching here on this forum, but if one has an open mind, they can really discover some really eye opening methods of treatment and prevention. i could go on and on with examples about this stuff.
:
: : You might consult with your vet and get some Silvaden Cream. This is an incredible product and I have used it to treat severe burns, cuts and lacerations (our wildlife center gets many rescued and abandoned herps which need critical care). Just something to consider.

: : : Hi, guys! Thanks for taking time to read this. I have an adult Yellowtail that hasn't quite adjusted to captivity yet. He keeps striking at the plexiglass cage front. I've tried covering the front with cloth or something, but it tends to hold too much heat during the day. At any rate--he's knocked a chunk of tissue about the size and shape of a (small) pencil eraser off of his snout. I've rinsed the wound and am keeping an eye on it, but need advice about whether to use an antibiotic, etc.
: : : If so, what works best in your experience? Thanks for your replies. (PS: This is the same snake I've been struggling with, trying to get him to eat. Finally, he shed last night, so I'm hoping he'll be more receptive to chicks, liver, fish, or something besides my hand, which he occasionally likes to take a nip at!)
