Have had some experience with wild caught Yellow Tails..Keep them dark and in the low 80's, make sure that they have a place to retreat to, ie hide box or bark tunnel..I kept mine on cypress mulch which allowed them to burrow and allowed me to keep up the humidity..In my case I just left them alone for about two to three weeks..I then placed dead mice and small rats at the mouth of the hide box and checked them in the am. This worked in most cases. Particularly stubborn cases demanded such items as snakes, frogs and yes, sardines. (SARDINES and TUNA DRIVE DRYMARCHON CRAZY!!) In these instances frogs and snakes were left in the cage overnight and were usually gone by am. As far as the nose goes, try a dab of polysporin, and make sure the animal is not disturbed. Feed dead if possible, as this will reduce the chances of additional nose abrasion caused by chasing food. Good Luck, keep us posted.
