Mike, I think its some internet rumor, I have never heard of such a thing. If there was such a place, the animal rights activists here would have a cow, so would the government (at least in the northwest where im from, not sure about these georgians). The closest thing to animal dumps that we have are the humane society, which is pretty bad that people have to abandon their most loyal family members there but at least they take care of the animals well at such facilities. The real problem here in the US, and the world over, is the pet trade. How many times have we all walked into a fetid smelling pet store, with some poor desperate parrot squawking hello at us through muck encrusted bars. The poor thing is crazy from all the squawking of the other birds because he's been there for years, he cant be sold because hes 3,000 dollars and has his chest feathers plucked out so nobody wants him and around the corner theres a stressed out veiled chameleon pawing at the glass window of a tiny box, with nothing but sand and some vegetables in a dish!! Yes, this was an actual pet store here in columbus, georgia, where I live. Its called feathers and friends. They also had a frog in an aquarium (filled with water and nothing else) struggling to breathe. That was the first and last time I went in the place.

So while the story you heard is not true, there are animals suffering here and many other places in the world because humans are stupid.

:Dear animal lovers

: yesterday I got horrible news out of the USA. I life in Switzerland and I couldn't belief what I heard:

: In some states, for example Tennessee, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and so fare, the government
: placed dump stations where people can go and dump there life animals. They have three different sizes
: of those containers, large, medium and small. So people can just go there and throw there 'beloved'
: animals (dogs, cats, hamsters, reptiles ......) regarding to there size in one of those containers.
: Even that is disgusting at all, that means that dogs, cats and all the other animals you can imagine are mixed together in one small container. I can't even imagine what happens down there.
: Imagine: 1 rotweiler, 3 cats, 5 guinea pigs, 10 hamsters and some other poor animals mixed together:
: what a party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: The government will take the animals out once ore twice a week and kill them.

: What do you guys think about that?

: You guys don't still live in the ages where animals still are a 'thing' ? Don't you? Or am I wrong?

: So please do something against this! Write to your government or the right office or how ever you call
: it. At least do something and don't think: 'yes, somebody should do something but not me'.

: At least some people here in Switzerland (not Sweden, or may be they do something as well) collect
: names from shocked people and send them to the local governor.

: So remember the people that life in a country are responsible for this country and it's laws.

: Best regards

: Michael
