Trash piles are actually quite scarce here in NJ. There are some, but not many like in the Carolinas and other southern states where public santitation does not exist. I believe this is why you don't see many animals here. I have tried r/r tracks several times, and they proved rather good for pine lizards, but no snakes. I might go to Crossley for a day. I drove through this summer, and the habitat is great!
I set up some wood piles this past spring in hopes of finding some coastal plains milks, so I will have to check there soon. Again...most of my herping is done in lowlands...cornsnakes, pines, and some kings prefer UPland where it is nice and dry and the sand is like sugar.
