Hubbs,
I live in the north part of the state but go to college on the edge of the pine barrens. My college is situated on 1100 acres of pine barrens and protected wetlands. There are no bog turtles, but there have been records of timbers, milks, kings on campus. Most of the land is untouched so there is no trash...just lots of logs. I do most of my hunting in Eastern atlantic Co...galloway twnshp. I have never heard of Bamber Lake, but I will have to check it out.
You got VERY LUCKY with all those snakes in 2 days! I will try and turn some trash after june rains...never heard f that trick either...thanks! When you went this spring, did you flip stuff early in the day? Before 12? I'm usually around in the heat of the day looking for snakes who seek cover. I also look in the evenings, but so far both have been rather unproductive. I have yet to see a snake under a log/trash in NJ.
SC is a diferent story....
