My friend ran across a snake about seven years ago, and I am very intrigued to know what it was. He said he found it around a woodpile, about an hour's drive west of the Atlantic Ocean on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He lives on the north side of the Rappahanock River, towards the mouth, and around the Chesapeake Bay area. He thinks it was dark brown or black with a lighter colored belly with darker flecks on the belly, and he thinks it was about 2 feet long. He said as soon as he picked it up around the neck, it started oozing a translucent white liquid straight from it's skin, but only in the general area where he was holding it. He knows what musk is, but he says it wasn't musk (at least not like kingsnake musk). He did say that the liquid stunk really bad. He also knows how to identify a viper, and he says it wasn't a viper. It's gonna bother me forever if I can't figure out what kind of snake this is, so if someone could attempt to identify it, that would be awesome. Thanks a lot.
