Stained Enclosure

I just made a new enclosure for my Arg. B&W. I stained the exterior and also the inside of the top for what reason I don't know. I thought it would dry and the smell would go away but the smell is still pretty strong after being dry for over a week. This might be a dull ?, but will this smell be harmful to the tegu?
