I went a searching for you
..... pg 77 of Mirtschin's 82 version of Dangerous Snakes of Australia..for the pic.
The names Lesser Black Whip was for Demansia (atra) vesigiata and the greater Black Whip was for D. papuanus. They came from Harald Ehmann's the Encyclopedia of Australian Animals - Reptiles pub in 92 by Angus and Robertson. (Incidently a great book..more general info than Cogger and more pics.) Ehmann gave everything a common name in that book!
