Taming Softshells

I was wondering if anyone has any method for taming softshells. I bought 2 spiney softshells over a year ago and they still act terrified when they see me. They were almost full grown when I got them, (not the hatchlings I thought I was getting)so I suspect they are wild caught. Any sugestions?
