I'm wondering if my winter set-up is adequate for a 19" (straight line shell length) alligator snapper. Its a 4'X4' square, above-ground pond that is about 21 inches high/ deep. Its roughly 200-240 gallons. We have mild winters down here. Maybe 1-2 nights where it dips below 32. Is there enough water there to avoid temperature swings that could be unhealthy or fatal? Will the splashing water from the filter keep him from hibernating properly? I plan to hold off on getting a 300 gallon stock pond until Spring because I have a move coming up. Any thoughts?
