They usually begin eating at a temp of 78+. Anything below that they don't. I don't know how high they'll eat up to though. I'm thinking anything above 87 might start making them feel uncomfortable to eat.
I usually keep mine about 80.
As long as he is healthy and not underweight, he can probably not eat for months due to the drop in temperature (if thats the case) which will slow down his activity (brumation).
