I don't yet have one of these beautiful little guys, but I've seen some diets that people use that include chicken or turkey baby food mixed with peach or apricot baby food. Some people also include spirulina. Also they add vitamins and minerals right before feeding.
I've heard that this is fine as the staple food for these geckos. You don't need to feed crickets if you don't want to. You actually should be glad that the breeders you got it from had it feeding on baby food already. I heard that some have to be weaned from crickets before they will eat baby food.
I am with you regarding crickets. I HATE them too, which is why I have considered getting one of these animals versus another type of animal.
