Like I said I don't have a crested gecko yet, so I don't have strong feelings one way or the other.

I agree that the T-Rex crested gecko diet is probably better than baby food.

But until it is being sold everywhere, I would figure that feeding baby food, supplemented with vitamins/minerals and maybe some spirulina, bee pollen (if you can find it), etc. would be good, especially if the owner doesn't want to, or refuses to, feed insects.
