Personally, the only Eheim I have had is the 2213 Classic Series. I've heard many people say they'd rather have the Classic series for their simplicity. I can take my filter out and clean it in about 30 mins. When I clean, I do it all...that's including taking out the impeller and using bottle brushes and all. The filter works well. My water is so clear people are amazed to see the tank. Nitrites, ammonia and pH are all perfect also. The only problem I have with it is that I have to clean it out and replace the fine media about once a month or the flow really slows down.
I just made my next filter out of a 5 gal bucket. I'm thinking that people say turtles produce so much more waste than fish, and with fish your biological filtration is the most important thing... I have about 3 gallons of biological media, and will be upping it to 4-4.5 when I can get to the store again and buy more bioballs.
Filters are outrageously priced these days and I didn't want to support this trend, so I made a better filter for less than half the money.
