Hello,
I have been rehabbing a red coachwhip about 4.5 feet long for the past 5 weeks, it was in the road and was clipped by a car, the BLM asked me if I could provide care for it, of course I said YOU BETCHA!
This snake presented with no obvious injuries, just sluggish, no energy and not wanting to feed at all.
I've been forcing fuzzies down the hatch with success, GI tract seems to be functioning well and 2 days ago, eyes looked like a shed is in the works.
I've lots of experience with rattlesnakes and corns, but not coachwhips.
How can I sex this snake, I don't have any probes, are there m/f characteristics?
What is adult size? Lifespan?
Any feeing tips? Have left pre-killed prey in the cage, no dice, not interested at all.
This is a GORGEOUS snake, bright pink belly, black head, etc.
Thanks for any informatin you can give me..
(Snake is from in-between Apple Valley, CA and Barstow, CA in the western Mojave Desert.)
