Hello all,
I just found this forum today and im lovin it! I live in
scotch plains, NJ and on my free time (5 days a week) i search for
and photograph herps.
Recently I went to the del. water gap national recreation area to find
and photo some snakes, and of course release them when I was done.
I get pulled over by a ranger who see's two snake hooks in my car
and to make a long story short i get a damned ticket for
"attempting to collect wildlife". Now he had NO proof I was taking
snakes, he wouldnt believe me when I said I was just finding
them and photoing them! So he makes up some excuse its even illegal
to do that!!! He called it harassment! My question is, is it illegal
to pick up a snake in NJ and photo it? This is VERY frustrating,
how come fishing isnt "harassment"? I mean you throw a SHARP hook
in the water, JAM it into the fishes jaw THEN you drag it by the jaw
THROUGH the water onto dry land where it cant BREATHE!! Thats harassment!
Where can I go to check out some herps and not be harassed?
