Meal worms for tiger sal?

Am I hallucinating, or did I read on here some time ago about somebody seeing a meal worm eat through a tiger sal's stomach? I can't find it in the search but I am sure I read it somewhere.
The pet store where I get my crickets has meal worms. Would they be a good addition to my tiger sal's diet? Now it mostly is big earthworms (cut up) or crickets, plus the occasional grub when I happen to find one.
Should I cut off the head before I feed it?
I always feed directly from my fingers, never just put worms or whatever in there and leave them.
