Feeding help!

I have a wc blotched/plainbelly water snake that I've had for about 5 months. He has eaten for me once or twice before, but doesn't seem to be taking anything now. It's been so long since he last ate, and I had to force feed him fish 2 weeks ago. I have wanted to get him on mice but I thought it was best to keep him on his natural food source. He's looking terribly skinny now, and I feel sooo bad. I'm just wandering, since he's wc, if I should let him go somewhere?? How can I possibly get him to eat, and what should I feed him exactly? Thanks in advance. I appreciate your help.
